The Del Mar Foundation makes grants to local projects and organizations to benefit our community, including promoting civic pride and community cohesiveness. The first nine months of 2026 have proven to be an exceptional and productive year in this regard. Examples of grants made this year are:
Del Mar Hills Academy Garden: A DMF grant is bringing trees, an irrigation system, and other improvements to a garden at Del Mar Hills Academy.
Del Mar International Composer’s Symposium (DMICS): DMF made a grant to support the 7th season of DMICS bringing world-class modern classical music to Del Mar.
Don Diego Plant*Grow*Eat: DMF, once again, provided funding to transport Title I students from schools across San Diego County to the Fairgrounds to learn about healthy eating habits and positive lifestyle choices.
Del Mar Fire Marshal Vehicle: DMF provided funding for the purchase of a vehicle to be used by the fire marshal of the newly formed Del Mar-Solana Beach shared fire management agreement.
Surf Del Mar Festival: DMF made a grant to support the Del Mar Historical Society’s Surf Del Mar Festival taking place October 8-11 in Del Mar. See surfdelmarfestival.com for more information.
Del Mar Library 30th Anniversary Celebration: The Library is celebrating its 30th anniversary throughout the year. A DMF grant provided summer programming and will bring two musical acts to the Library on October 10th as part of the anniversary celebration. See the calendar at sdcl.org/locations/12 for more information.
Tuesday Lunch Connections: As we’ve done for several years, DMF provided the funding to fully support Del Mar Community Connection’s Tuesday Lunch Connections program (TLC). This twice-monthly program brings together 85+ local seniors at highest risk of isolation for lunch, social engagement, and talks by special guest speakers.
Red Nose Run: A DMF grant will support this annual holiday beach run with proceeds of the event to be donated to Semper Fi America’s Fund and San Dieguito River Park.
DMF’s ability to make grants to support our community is made possible by the generosity of donors, and the many volunteers on various DMF committees who review the grant applications, as well as those who manage the DMF’s endowment. Thank you to all.
