Campaign Fact Gaps

As of September 21, as we went to press, and just two weeks before ballots are mailed to voters, the Sandpiper encountered online dead ends for key candidates’ websites.

Candidate Jeff Sturgis founded Del Mar Woodpecker and Moving Del Mar Forward (MDMF), publisher of Del Mar Woodpecker. He appears to have taken MDMF’s website, forwarddelmar.com, off-line, making much of Sturgis’s record over the past 9 years on key Del Mar issues harder to access and review. His campaign website – https://jgsturgis.com/ – has a short statement about why he is running, and a donation button, but does not provide information on his positions on any substantive issues.

Terry Gaasterland’s website, tgfordelmar.com, is a shell of its former self during her 2022 campaign, with all but the home page removed, now featuring a “COMING SOON” message along with a “Top Priorities” button that goes nowhere. A different website prominently featured on her 2026 yard signs, TerryForDelMar.com, goes to a “File not found (404 error)” message (see above). Her main communication vehicle appears to be Hershell Price’s “Knowledge for the Vote” email platform.

By contrast, the other two candidates have websites that offer detailed information on a range of issues, along with candidate credentials and background: meghan4delmar.com, and jas4delmar.com.

10/1/2026 Update: After the October issue of the Sandpiper went to press on on September 22, the two Gaasterland websites have changed, as follows:

http://terryfordelmar.com now features a full campaign website, as confirmed on October 1, 2026.  The URL “tgfordelmar.com now shows a “This site can’t be reached” message.

The 404 error message returned by TerryForDelMar.com on Sept. 21, 2026.
