Thank you for an incredible Fall Benefit!
If you were able to attend, we hope you had a wonderful time at the Silver Anniversary Fall Benefit, where we celebrated 25 years of Del Mar Community Connections supporting and serving older adults who are aging independently at home. The 125 guests included founders, board members, donors, and volunteers, gathering at sunset on the Del Mar Civic Center Plaza. They were treated to delicious food and wine, viewed a “Video Yearbook” slideshow of the year 2000, enjoyed a wine tasting, and participated in a performance and music trivia game from talented vocalist Celeste Barbier.
The event was produced from the hard work and great ideas of the planning committee, made up of Larry Brooks, Helen Eckmann, Connie Gonczy, Susan Harrington, Denine Henry, Chana Mannen, Claire McGreal, Carly Michaels, Katie Militello, and Steve Reich. Additional thanks to Bob Gans, Judd Halenza, Tom Harrington, James Hayes, and Michael Militello for special projects they each worked on to make it a fun night!
The contributions of DMCC’s Sustaining Members and Fall Benefit Sponsors made this event – and make everything DMCC does – possible! Sustaining Members make a 5-year commitment of a $2,000 or more annual gift. Fall Benefit Sponsors make generous donations of $2,000 or more. With such significant contributions making up more than half of our annual revenue, DMCC can directly respond to and serve the interests of the Del Mar aging community.
Here’s to the next 25 years!!
Volunteer of the Month – October 2025
DMCC’s Volunteer of the Month for October 2025 was Larry Brooks, for more reasons than seem possible to count. Most recently, Larry used his background as president of the Del Mar Historical Society to put together a “video yearbook” from the year 2000 that wowed the guests of the Fall Benefit. But Larry has also long presented Remarkable Del Mar History, and he is a volunteer in our Connect Team pilot, and he is a member of our PR Committee! DMCC President Katie Militello said that Larry is “always willing, able and cooperative to help out in promoting DMCC to those who can use our help. We are so grateful to have his dedication and support.”
DMCC programs and services depend on our incredible volunteers! To learn more about Larry, or our talented volunteers and their roles, visit dmcc.cc/volunteerofthemonth.
