Well, Summer is wrapping up and a beautiful Fall season will soon be upon us. One of the core missions of the Foundation is to provide programming and events that bring our Del Mar community together. Three programs come readily to mind:
The Summer Twilight Concert series was an immense success, bringing over 12,000 fun-loving people to Powerhouse Park for four incredible concerts. The last concert was August 12 which featured Billy Nation (Billy Joel tribute) with the Taryn Donath Trio as the opening act. It is amazing to see the park filled with so many people enjoying food, beverage, music, and dancing.
First Thursdays will have its first concert of the new season on September 5, featuring the Anne Gabriele Oboe Quintet. This popular 10-concert subscription series reached its subscriber cap quickly. Season highlights include jazz great Charles McPherson, the virtuosic Romero Guitar Quartet, and Grammy-winning bluegrass duo Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley. The intimacy and sound quality of Town Hall make these gatherings very special.
The DMF’s Community Picnic takes place September 14 at Powerhouse Park (1-4pm). Local organizations and non-profits will offer information and activities; there will be fun and games for kids, live music, and more. A great day for the whole family to bring a picnic and celebrate our Del Mar community with friends and neighbors!
