Del Mar’s own bookstore, Camino: For the Road Ahead, opened in April in the Del Mar Plaza complete with shelves stocked full of books to browse plus a secluded space set up for children. Independent book store owners since 1989, John Evans and Alison Reid have moved south from the Bay Area to Los Angeles to San Diego’s Del Mar Highlands where their store was named Diesel. They then headed west to Del Mar and changed the store name to Camino. In addition to books (and audio books) and cards, Camino offers a newsletter and hosts book groups, author interviews and discussions in store and around the plaza. Caminobks.com.
