New Internet HQ
Have you visited DMCC’s website recently? We just unveiled a major makeover that features improved navigation and better accessibility for vision-impaired visitors. We also added some new content, like a news update blog, a page with information about our medical equipment lending library, and a “Community Tributes” page, permanently housing remembrances about community members we have lost. Please – virtually stop by at www.dmcc.cc and let us know what you think!
I Scream, You Scream!
You won’t want to miss the 2025 Ice Cream Social on May 16! The Social Good Times committee led by Ann Feeney is planning a celebration that will outdo last year’s. You can select your favorite treat from an ice cream truck, and be entertained by a barbershop quartet. The best part is meeting with longtime friends and neighbors while enjoying a gorgeous ocean view at the Civic Center. Make sure you’re subscribed to DMCC’s email list so you don’t miss your opportunity to sign up for this fun – and free – event! (And bring a friend!)
Del Mar Rental Assistance Fundraising Drive
Thanks to your incredible generosity last year, Del Mar Community Connections (DMCC) was able to support Del Mar’s vital rental assistance program and continue to prevent four local households from homelessness. Through an agreement with the Del Mar City Council, DMCC has committed to funding half of the program’s 2025 cost and manage it at no cost to the City. Our share of the program this year is $58,000. We’re fortunate to have received a $10,000 grant from the Del Mar Foundation (DMF), and they’ve also generously offered a matching grant of $15,000 — but only if we can raise $15,000 by June 30th of this year. For every dollar we raise by then, DMF will match it, dollar for dollar, up to $15,000. If you’d like to help, you can visit www.dmcc.cc/givenow and select “One Time Contribution” to donate directly to the program online – make sure you tell us that your gift is for Del Mar Rental Assistance!
Volunteer of the Month – April
DMCC’s April Volunteer of the Month was Dan Maneval. Dan is an Essential Transportation volunteer (the team that gets nondriving residents to medical and other essential appointments). He also serves on the Transportation Committee. He was nominated by Judy Schuckit because “As a relatively new volunteer, Dan has jumped in with two feet and our clients often comment on his enthusiasm, kindness, and say that spending time with him is just plain fun.”
DMCC programs and services depend on our incredible volunteers! To learn more about Dan or opportunities to help plan events, or any other volunteer role, visit dmcc.cc/volunteerofthemonth.
