DMCC Volunteers are Stars!

Nothing that DMCC does happens without the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, and we think they hang the moon! Therefore, this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Event is themed “DMCC Volunteers Are Out of This World!” Our 100+ volunteers should look for an invitation to the April 25 party we’re throwing in their honor with decorations and activities that evoke outer space – because we want to remind them that they’re the best volunteers in the universe! There will also be a delicious fresh dinner and delicious drinks on offer.

So the next time you have a close encounter with a DMCC volunteer, please tell them that they’re a star!

Book Launch: Artist, Lover, Forger, Thief

We couldn’t be more proud of former DMCC Board Member, and current head of the Page Turners team, Sheila Sharpe: she has published her first novel! Artist, Lover, Forger, Thief is an art forgery crime novel, and the first entry of a planned series. On Sunday, April 6, 4-6pm, Sheila is launching her book at a special reception for DMCCers at Town Hall. In addition to a complimentary book signing and a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception, Sheila will discuss all the research into art forgery that went into her writing, and her creative process. This event is going to fill up, so please make sure you’ve made your reservation – you can find the registration link at www.dmcc.cc/calendar.

Volunteer of the Month – March

DMCC’s Volunteer of the Month for March 2025 was Michelle Johnson. Michelle is an Essential Transportation volunteer, a member of the team that helps nondriving residents get to medical and other essential appointment. She was nominated by Transportation chair Judy Schuckit and Essential Transportation client Fran Barker because “Michelle does an incredible job as a van host and her energy and enthusiasm are contagious!”

DMCC programs and services depend on our incredible volunteers! To learn more about Michelle or opportunities to help plan events, or any other volunteer role, visit dmcc.cc/volunteerofthemonth.
