Welcome New DMCC Board Members and President!

DMCC is proud to welcome three new members to DMCC’s Board of Directors. Ann Feeney is retired from Scripps Research Institute where she was a professor and had an active research lab for 26 years. Ellie Haviland retired from a career in healthcare automation and began her foray into public service in 2014 where she was part of the Del Mar Planning Commission and then City Council, serving as a Councilmember, followed by Deputy Mayor, and culminating in her tenure as Mayor from 2019 to 2020. Glenn Warren is a retired diplomat and prior to his Foreign Service career, he was a criminal defense lawyer in San Diego.

DMCC also welcomes Katie Militello as new Board President. Katie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been on the Board since 2023, previously serving as Vice President of Strategic Planning. Katie first volunteered with DMCC as a facilitator for Adapting to Life Transitions, a peer support group for adapting to changes of aging, and most recently facilitated DMCC’s Writing Your Story program.

2024 Fall Benefit Celebration!

Question: What combines brain-teasing fun, exciting competition, and the chance to make a difference for seniors in your community?

Answer: DMCC’s 2024 Fall Benefit Celebration – Trivia Night!

DMCC’s Annual Fall Benefit will be held on Sat, Oct 26, 2024 from 5pm-8pm. Due to popular demand, we have redesigned our signature Fall fundraiser to be more participatory and inviting to all members of our community. We want to share with you the support DMCC provides to seniors in our community through transportation, education and social activities like this one. Compete and win prizes in teams while you enjoy casual fun food for mix and mingle. Individual tickets cost $150 or you can become a Fall Benefit Sponsor with a Leader gift of $1,500, a Champion gift of $3,000 or a Visionary gift with a donation of $5,000 or more. We hope you will join us for a fun evening of conversation and entertainment.

Volunteer of the Month – August

DMCC’s Volunteer of the Month for August 2024 is Don Mosier. Don is a longtime DMCC volunteer, a former board member and a past DMCC president. Don was nominated by Transportation Committee Chair Judy Schuckit for stepping in at the last minute as a substitute van driver for our essential transportation outings as well as assisting us with planning our Explorers outing to the County Fair in June.
