I am running for re-election to maintain our small-town character, beautify our city, and create a more efficient, responsive government through a combination of common sense, technology, data analytics, and fresh ideas. Del Mar needs change on two important issues.
The first is stopping the dishonest and misleading train and tunnel project from ruining Del Mar, whether it is fencing along the bluffs, seawalls that destroy our beaches, or a tunnel that will destroy and disrupt many homes and businesses. The data shows this train is obsolete and should be looked at for termination and conversion into a trail.
The second issue is our public works projects, especially basic street work and burying of our dangerous and unsightly utility lines. Del Mar voters approved the Measure Q sales tax in 2016, and in those 8 years, the City has collected over $20 million and buried almost nothing. Estimated costs have exploded far beyond reason, timelines have been repeatedly missed, and transparency and accountability are lacking.
Let’s preserve what’s great about Del Mar and implement needed changes to make it the best run and most beautiful small town on the planet.
