Matching Grant to Save Del Mar Rental Assistance

We are proud to announce that our generous partners at the Del Mar Foundation have offered matching funds (up to $10,000) for any donations that come in before June 30, 2024 in support of the Del Mar Rental Assistance Program. Last year DMCC agreed to share the costs of funding the City of Del Mar’s low-income housing program with the City of Del Mar rather than see the program end and put four vulnerable local households at high risk of homelessness. DMCC agreed to pay half the annual cost of $96,000 with the City and further agreed to manage the program without charging an administrative fee. We were heartened by the efforts of the Del Mar community to rally around the households that benefit from the program so that their neighbors could stay put.

DMCC’s share of the program cost in 2024 is $48,000. $10,000 of the total has already been offset by a grant from the Del Mar Foundation and they have agreed to a matching grant for an additional $10,000 raised by June 30. Volunteer of the Month – May

DMCC’s Volunteer of the Month for May 2024 was Jim Dutton, Essential Transportation volunteer. Nominated by Transportation Chair Judy Schuckit, Jim has become a key member of the team, because he picks up so many rides to take nondriving seniors to medical and grocery appointments.
