I’m back with Part 2 of Happy Hour in Del Mar! Let’s start on 15th Street!
A staple in Del Mar for 25 years, Sbicca offers Happy Hour seven days a week from 3-6 pm (excluding holidays). Join your neighbors at the bar area or the patio to enjoy a delightful menu! Of particular interest is the crispy calamari with arugula, sweet peppers and lemon aioli ($13); beef slider trio with arugula, wild mushrooms, cheese and garlic aioli ($15); or beer battered fish taco ($7). Sbicca offers a veggie flatbread ($13), shrimp fettuccini ($12) or their famous five herb truffle fries ($8). Specialty cocktails are $10, house wines are $7, and beers $5 with a non-alcoholic beer on the list.
Walking over to Camino Del Mar we come to Zel’s, a neighborhood staple for ten years providing a warm, cozy vibe. Happy Hour is no exception, so bring your friends to meet in the bar area Sunday through Thursday, 4-6 pm.Drink specials include draft beer ($6), wine ($8) and cocktails ($11). The cocktail menu is quite appealing, with choices such as Garden Tonic, Old Fashioned, or Classic Margarita. Food choices are full sized small bites such as fish taco ($7), and calamari ($15). There is also a Naughty Bar Food Item – I’m not sure what that is, so I think we need to get over to Zel’s to find out!
Salt & Lime is a relative newcomer to Del Mar’s restaurant scene serving authentic modern Mexican cuisine. Happy Hour is 2:30-5:30 pm every day; small bites include such delights as nopalito tostadas ($6); Sinaloan tostadas ($7); Mar y Tierra (shrimp and steak); potato taquitos ($9); guacamole and chips (starting at $9). The drink menu includes three different Margaritas (priced from $7-$11); wine ($6), and Mexican beers at $6. The location is inviting, with windows all around and an open courtyard feel. Try it some evening, and experience their modern Mexican menu!
