DMF: Get Your Dancing Shoes (or Flip-Flops) Ready!

Back in 1982, with Del Mar Foundation in its infancy, Mayor Lou Terrell, in his role as a founding director of DMF, began working with an enthusiastic group of volunteers to plan the first-ever Summer Twilight Concerts. They were ambitious enough to plan six concerts (and build a stage!) for the inaugural Summer 1983 season – held in Seagrove Park because Powerhouse Park didn’t yet exist.

Now, 42 years later, DMF is proud that the series created by our founders still brings families, friends and neighbors together to picnic, enjoy music, and take in our trademark ocean views and sunsets. We invite you to get your dancing shoes (or flip-flops) ready for four spectacular concerts this summer.

The concert dates, main acts, and 3 of the 4 Zel’s Opening Acts (the 4th will be announced soon) are:

June 25: Opener: TBA, Main Act: Daring Greatly

July 9: Opener: Tourmaliners, Main Act: The Jimmy’s Buffet

July 23: Opener: Sage Sam, Main Act: Desperado

August 13:  Opener: Jenn Howard, Main Act: The Walrus

Daring Greatly won the 2023 San Diego Music Awards’  Song of the Year Award for “Never A Goodbye,” and is a 2024 nominee for Best Rock Artist. You can probably guess what we’ll hear from Jimmy’s Buffet; Desperado will entertain us with the music of the Eagles; and The Walrus, by popular demand, will again be traveling to Del Mar from New Orleans after wowing the crowd last summer with the music of the Beatles. Save these dates and join us for this wonderful civic tradition. See you at Powerhouse Park!
