Let the Good Times Roll, Del Mar!
Planning for the 23rd Annual Benefit Gala is underway, and Event Chair Sandra Hoyle is planning a colorful Mardi Gras-themed bash. We’ll enjoy Cajun food and entertainment on Saturday, October 7 as we celebrate a great cause – helping Del Mar seniors to age independently at home. The Gala is, by far, DMCC’s single most significant fundraising event of the year, raising revenue equal to roughly one third of our entire operating budget. This year’s proceeds will further goals recently identified in a strategic planning session: expanding our transportation services, increasing support to family caregivers, and bridging the gap in the interrupted Del Mar Rental Assistance program, preventing homelessness among those most vulnerable. Honorary Committee Chairs Susan and Judd Halenza are hosting a wonderful party at their home for Gala Honorary Committee donors in September and they’re working to gather support: “We hope you will join us for what has become one of the highlights of the Del Mar social calendar so that we can support DMCC as it embarks on an exciting new chapter in its mission.”
Honorary Committee sponsorships start at $1,500 and include two free admissions to the Gala, as well as public recognition. To become a Gala donor or to learn more, visit dmcc.cc/responseform or call the DMCC office at (858) 792-7565.

Volunteer of the Month – August
DMCC’s Volunteer of the Month for August 2023 is Nate McCay. Nate is a longtime DMCC volunteer and is currently the program leader of Learn to Play Bridge. He is also a volunteer driver, and was nominated by Transportation Committee Chair Judy Schuckit for stepping in at the last minute as a substitute van driver on a grocery outing for our essential transportation clients.
DMCC programs and services depend on our incredible volunteers! To learn more about Nate or becoming a DMCC volunteer program leader or driver, visit dmcc.cc/volunteerofthemonth.
