The 2023 season of Summer Twilight Concerts had a smashing finale on August 22 with The Walrus (A Beatles Tribute Band). This year’s four-concert series, organized by a stalwart group of DMF volunteers under Bob Gans’ leadership, is part of DMF’s longest-running program. Forty years ago, Summer Twilight Concerts debuted (at Seagrove Park, since Powerhouse didn’t exist yet), with founding director (and former Mayor) Lou Terrell spearheading the effort. Check out the “groovy” poster from the 1983 inaugural season online: https://bit.ly/STC-1983. The lineup for the six concerts that first season is eclectic and impressive!
Join us on September 17 for another tradition:DMF’s Community Picnic in Powerhouse Park, featuring lots of fun for Del Mar families: games and music, an impressive line-up of Del Mar’s nonprofit organizations where you can learn about each group’s purpose and activities, and how to support them, a beer garden, and more.
…and more:Another September highlight is the kickoff of the new season of First Thursdays, a signature DMF program that launched in 2000 under the leadership of Lynn Gaylord and other culturally-minded volunteers. First Thursdays is at capacity, but you can add your name to the wait-list (which gives you an early subscription opportunity for future seasons) by sending an email to dmf@delmarfoundation.org.
Find a volunteer opportunity that matches your passion: Whether you want to volunteer for any of the activities listed above, or any of our other events and activities, let us know: send an email to volunteer@delmarfoundation.org, and we’ll connect you to an event or program that matches your interests.
