The Scoop: Ice Cream Social 2023

DMCC’s Social and Good Times Committee hosted the third annual Ice Cream Social on April 28 at the Del Mar Civic Center. It was another successful event, with 80 people in attendance who enjoyed treats ordered from an ice cream truck and were entertained by a barbershop quartet from the Sun Harbor Chorus. Our thanks to the volunteers who worked hard to plan the fun event, as well as our partners from the City of Del Mar government who are generous with a beautiful oceanview venue!

Volunteer Drivers Needed!

What are your plans this summer? If you enjoy helping senior neighbors, have your own vehicle, a clean driving record, and some extra time, consider training to join our amazing team of volunteer drivers! Volunteer drivers transport non-driving Del Mar seniors to medical, grocery, and other essential appointments. Our volunteer drivers report loving that the schedule is flexible – they sign themselves up for service at a time that is convenient for them. More than anything else, they truly enjoy developing fulfilling friendships with the senior members of the community. If interested, contact our office at (858) 792-7565.

Volunteer of the Month – May

DMCC’s Volunteer of the Month for May 2023 was Lucy Zizka. Lucy was nominated by Program Committee Co-Chair Sheila Sharpe for her longtime, dedicated service as the leader of the weekly Bridge game.
