Report to the Community

A Network of Support, DMCC’s 2023 Report to the Community, has been sent to members of the community who have donated to or volunteered for DMCC, or have participated in activities in the recent past. We hope you enjoy the brief snapshot of another year of supporting and serving seniors and get a great sense of how dynamic the DMCC community is. If you did not receive a copy of the Report to the Community, please call DMCC at (858) 792-7565 and we will set one aside for you to pick up at DMCC Headquarters in the Del Mar Community Building at 225 9th street.

Shared Housing

DMCC administers Del Mar Shared Housing, a referral service that matches low-income individuals with senior or disabled homeowners that are willing to share their homes for free or at a reduced rental rate in exchange for the type of physical assistance that makes it possible for the senior to remain in their home. This could include help with errands, cooking or cleaning, technology, or even to make use of a medical specialty. We currently have one homeowner in her 90s who lives in a gorgeous home but could use some extra assistance with day-to-day tasks and is looking for the right person to move in. If you or someone you know is interested in this specific opportunity, or more generally would like to be notified of future shared housing opportunities, please call our office at (858) 792-7565 to discuss the matter with DMCC staff.

Volunteer of the Month – April

DMCC’s Volunteer of the Month for April 2023 was Katie Militello. Katie was nominated by President Bob Gans and Secretary/Outreach Committee Co-Chair Tema Halpern for helping the DMCC Board of Directors to prepare for a recent strategic planning retreat. Katie is also the leader of the Writing Your Story memoir writing workshop.
