Up Close and Personal with Flying Leathernecks…
A tour of the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum at MCAS Miramar Air Station, led by two Del Mar former pilots, will be sponsored June 16 by Del Mar Community Connections. The museum is cited as the only one in the world dedicated to preserving the incredible contributions made by Marine Corps aviators and their ground support personnel. Leading the tour will be Richard Earnest, a decorated Naval fighter pilot (and former Del Mar Mayor) and Charles “Cap” Pinney, a former Marine test pilot. The shuttle bus will leave DMCC at 10 a.m. and return at 12:30 p.m.. Reservations are limited and can be made by calling 858 792-7565.

If You Drive, Have Some Spare Time, This Job’s for You…
Help. Volunteer drivers are needed by Del Mar Community Connections to join a dwindling cadre of generous folks who drive seniors to their medical appointments. It’s easy. It’s at your convenience. And you meet the nicest, most interesting, most grateful residents. Call 858-792-7565 to volunteer.

It’s Just Around the Corner…
Mark your calendar now for the annual Fourth of July Parade in Powerhouse Park and Coast Blvd., which this year will feature the premiere outing of the “Foxy Flyer” wheelchair-enabled mini-van. The new van is available to take residents to health care appointments and to DMCC sponsored social, cultural and educational trips by appointment. The service is free.
