The Fair Board continues to stonewall the community about its promotion of gun trafficking by holding 4-5 gunshows a year. No member of the Board has stepped up and asked for the item to be place on its agenda despite a citizens petition of over 1500 names and a unanimous City Council Resolution asking that the gunshow contracts not be renewed.
• The Fair Board has signalled its willingness to enter into an informal partnership with the city of Del Mar to construct affordable housing on the fairgrounds property. The Council passed a resolution of support for such an undertaking. Details of the partnership are to be negotiated.
• No new news on the proposed “local partnership” model for governing the fairgrounds. Local officials are seeking clarity from the Governor’s Office on what kind of a structure would be acceptable.
