Del Mar’s In-Home Connections program (IHC), which is marking its first full year of operation, has released a new video showcasing the services and activities available to Del Mar seniors.

Modeled after successful programs of its kind across the country, IHC matches seniors with community volunteers who help them with the daily activities that allow them to continue living independently, in their own homes, as long as possible.

Jeannie Walsh, IHC Membership Services Coordinator, reports that after a year of running the program she’s signed up 37 volunteers who provide rides to medical appointments, exercise classes, choral rehearsals, hair appointments, shopping trips, and community events. Services in the home have included friendly visits to talk or play cards, light gardening, unloading groceries, household organization, and trash day assistance. “The most rewarding part, for me,” adds Jeannie, “is watching the volunteers and members build lifelong friendships.”
