About the Design Review Board

THE DEL MAR DESIGN REVIEW BOARD (“DRB”) is responsible for reviewing and deciding, subject to appeal, all applications for new construction or building modifications required under the City's Design Review Ordinance. The seven (7) members of the DRB are appointed by the City Council to overlapping four (4) year terms.

In keeping with the goals and policies of the Del Mar Community Plan, the Design Review Ordinance (Chapter 23.08 of the Del Mar Municipal Code) protects the residential and seaside character of the community by fostering and encouraging good design, the use of harmonious materials and colors, compatible and proportional relationships of buildings and appropriate landscaping.

Design Review Board Meetings

The DRB meets regularly on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM. Special meetings and workshops are held occasionally. The DRB meets in the Del Mar Communications Center, 240 Tenth Street, Del Mar.
